Abstract

1454938 Output drive from rotary positive displacement devices AUDI NSU AUTO UNION AG and WANKEL GmbH 23 Dec 1974 [24 Dec 1973] 55590/74 Heading F1F [Also in Division F2] Power from a two cylinder I.C. engine of the trochoidal type is taken off the crank-shaft 6 by a gear 11, an intermediate gear 12 and a further gear 13 which are housed in a hollow wall 4 of the engine between the two cylinders. The gears are lubricated by oil passing through openings 15 in the adjacent side walls of the engine and this oil returns to a sump (not shown) in communication with the space 16 in which the gears 11, 12, 13 are located. The engine has a clutch 19 and gear-box 20, and the crank-shaft 6 may be in one piece with the gear 11 machined on a portion intermediate the two eccentrics 7.
