Abstract
1454461 Isostatic compaction SKF NOVA AB 14 Jan 1974 [15 Jan 1973] 01646/74 Heading B5A The isostatic compaction of a granular material, e.g. steel powder, in an evacuated container 5 is effected by placing the powder-filled container in a pressure chamber 1 closed by a cover 2 housing an explosive charge 4 and a firing mechanism 3 therefor; when the charge is fired the powder is compacted by the pressure of the gas developed in the chamber. The powder is heated in the container, e.g. by the flow therethrough of hot hydrogen or helium before evacuating and sealing the container and placing it in the chamber.
