Abstract
1362991 Nuclear fuel artefact UNITED KINGDOM ATOMIC ENERGY AUTHORITY 20 July 1972 [28 July 1971] 35556/71 Heading C1A A nuclear fuel artefact is produced by mixing sintered and unsintered ceramic nuclear fuel powders and a binder, forming a green compact, and heating to form a wholly sintered product, the unsintered powder being of smaller size than the sintered powder. Preferably unsintered UO2 of size 1-5 Á is mixed with sintered UO2 agglomerates of size 37-75 Á and then heated to 1650‹ C. in an H2/N2 atmosphere. The mixture may contain 1-25% sintered material.
