Abstract

1351444 Moulding bearings IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd 24 June 1971 [10 July 1970 (2) 26 Jan 1971] 33641/70 33642/70 and 3171/71 Heading B5A [Also in Divisions B7 and F2] Apparatus for moulding a powdered material, e.g. a filled P.T.F.E. to form a bearing 10, comprises a flexible member 11, and an unsupported shell mould 5 made by a metal deposition process, e.g. flame-sprayed zinc. In operation the powder is placed in the space between the mould and the member 11, and is evacuated by a pipe connection 14, before being compacted by fluid pressure in a vessel 17. After compaction the moulding is sintered.
