Abstract
1454226 Vacuum generation apparatus ELEKTROMAT VEB 13 Dec 1974 [27 Dec 1973] 53903/74 Heading F1N A steady vacuum pressure is generated in a chamber 8 by a vacuum generator 1 connected to the chamber 8 through a flow restriction, the chamber having a restricted flow inlet connection 16 to atmosphere and a service connection 17 for connection to apparatus requiring a steady vacuum pressure. The flow restrictions shown are in the form of an orifice plate 6 having apertures of different diameter for selective disposition over the outlet 15 from the chamber 8 and a small bore duct 7 connected to the inlet connection 16. The degree of vacuum established in the chamber 8 depends upon the ratio of the flow restrictions, and to enable this to be adjusted, the duct 7 may be divided into sections (9a, 9b) inter-connected by chambers (10) having valve controlled openings to atmosphere, Fig. 2 (not shown). If the generation of an unsteady vacuum is to be avoided, the flow restriction at the outlet 15 is chosen so as to produce a velocity of flow therethrough which is sonic. Apparatus requiring an intermittent vacuum supply can be connected via pipes 4 to a distributer 3 positioned between the generator and the outlet 15 without disturbing the steady pressure in the chamber 8.
