1453255 Loading and unloading by currents of liquid SHELL INTERNATIONALE RESEARCH MAATSCHAPPIJ BV 2 May 1975 18437/75 Heading B8E [Also in Division B7] A method for preparing a load of coal for transport by ship comprises adding enough dry agglomerates, e.g. pellets formed by briquetting coal particles with a binder, to an aqueous slurry of coal fines, to obtain a load with an overall water content below the flow moisture point. The slurry originates from a pipe-line transport system, and preferably the agglomerates are added whilst loading into the ship. Dry coal lumps can be added. The load is re-slurrified for unloading.
