Abstract
1,240,433. Agglomerated fructose. BOEHRINGER MANNHEIM G.m.b.H. 23 Feb., 1970 [25 Feb., 1969], No. 8579/70. Heading C2C. Agglomerated fructose, consisting of two or more microcrystalline fructose units of size 10-200 Á agglomerated to form particles of size 0À2-2À0 mm. are prepared by moistening said microcrystalline fructose with 3-10% by weight of aqueous 6 1-4 alcohol containing 0À03-1À5% by weight of water, based on the weight of fructose, and then drying at 40-90 C. Preferably methanol containing 0À1-1% by weight water is used. The fructose may be moved about during drying, for example in a plate drier, rotating drum or fluidized bed.
