Abstract

1453104 Hold-open door hinge ED SCHARWACHTER KG 13 March 1974 [13 March 1973] 11207/74 Heading E2F A hold-open door hinge comprises hinge leaves 1 and 2 connected by hinge pin 3, a torsion spring having a central portion 5 secured in a groove 6 by indentations 9, 9' to a base portion 4 of leaf 1, a roller 13 (13' Fig. 4) carried by one end 12 of the spring, and a steel cam plate 15 engaged by the roller which is secured at 18 to a side web of leaf 2, and which defines retaining recesses. The groove 6 which receives the torsion spring is formed with one steep (7) and one inclined (8) side and the indentations 9, 9' form projections which extend from the sides over the spring. The roller can be either smooth (13, Figs. 1, 2) or peaked (13' Fig. 4) and the cam plate may have peaks gently inclined in the opening direction and steeply inclined in the closing direction (Fig. 5 not shown). Leaf 2 is preferably formed from an iron casting and leaf I from a rolled section. A portion 26 constitutes a limiting stop for the hinge.
