Abstract

1451357 Two-part couplings; terminals BUNKER RAMO CORP 27 Nov 1973 [10 Sept 1973] 54942/73 Heading H2E The contacts of a plug connector each comprises a sheet metal channel shaped terminal portion 36 with side walls 52, 53 and a base wall 54, each side wall having in opposed portions detents 59, 60 inwardly of the channel to form at least one notch 68, 70 for recieving an insulated conductor to be attached to the terminal portion by cutting the insulation and subsequently making electrical connection with the conductor during the reception. Each contact is retained in a respective passage 14 of a moulded mount 12 mounted in a metallic shell (not shown), the retention of the contacts being effected by bonding a tab 42 against the mount. The free edges of the detents provide V-shaped cutting edges (78-80, Fig. 4) and a medial portion (90) for spreading the insulation apart after cutting.
