Abstract

1449918 Dispensing liquids DOVER CORP 14 Jan 1974 [15 Jan 1973] 01689/74 Heading A4T A dispensing nozzle, e.g. for petrol, comprises aspout 14, a vapour recovery passage 37, and means for forming a seal between a filling opening 34 and the recovery passage during dispensing, which means comprises disc 27 for engaging the end of a filling pipe 35 and a part-spherical surfaced member 22, urged towards a collar 32 on the spout 14 e.g. by a bellows 20 or a spring 93, Fig. 6. On inserting the spout 14 into the opening 34, the disc 27 is pushed back from engagement with a surface 33 of the collar 32 by engagement with the pipe 35, and a step 39 of the collar 32 may be retained by a lip 40 of the opening 34. An extension 25 of a plate 26 on the disc 27 seals against the member 22, which may be integral with the bellows 20, and vapour is recovered through the passage 37 via the interior 36 of the bellows 20. Alternatively, Fig. 6, a portion 96 of the partspherical member 92 may sealingly engage the spout 83, the spring 93 urging the member 92 and disc 27 towards the collar 32, and an aperture 91 may lead to the vapour return passage 89 via a tube 88. In modifications, Figs. 3-5 (not shown), the extension 25 may have a groove (49) holding a sealing ring (50) for co-operation with the member 22, or the disc 27 and plate 26 may be replaced by a single member (68) reinforced by a support member (67).
