Abstract

1449900 Transistor pulse circuits SILCOX & SMITH Ltd 16 Oct 1974 [29 Dec 1973] 60137/73 Heading H3T [Also in Division H2] An automatic switching circuit for sequentially connecting a pair of output terminals 11, 12 across the respective terminals 13 ... 15 of series-connected batteries is energised by said batteries. As shown a double-pole change-over relay RL2/2 is periodically pulsed under control of a circuit in which a transistor TR1 is alternately turned on, while a capacitor C1 is charged via a resistor RV1, and then turned off while the eapacitor C1 is discharged. As described, in a tractor, a 12V battery connected to lines 11, 12 is alternately charged from a first 12V battery connected across 13, 14 and then from a further 12V battery connected across 14, 15 in dependence on the position of the contacts of relay RL2/2. C1 is charged via RV1 and normally-closed contacts of a further relay RL1 until zener diode ZD1 breaks down, turning on transistor TR1 which energises RL1/2, normally-open contacts RL1 of which energise relay RL2/2. Normally-open contacts RL1 short circuit zener diode ZD1 so that C1 discharges via the base circuit of TR1 until TR1 becomes non-conductive, releasing both relays. The operation is repetitive, each half cycle lasting for three minutes.
