Abstract

1448630 Pipe couplings ADOLF RIEDL AG 29 Aug 1974 [31 Aug 1973] 37824/74 Heading F2G A coupling for a hose 1 reinforced at 2 with wire of, e.g. metal, comprises a jacket 5 of tough deformable material to be pressed on to the outer surface of the hose, the jacket being provided with a stop 7 co-operating with a tube joint 8 which is pressed into the interior of the hose 1, at least one insert piece 3 provided between the jacket 5 and the hose 1 and/or its reinforcement 2, and at least one insert piece 4 provided between the tube joint 8 and the hose 1 and/or its reinforcement 2, the insert pieces 3, 4 being, at least on their surfaces, harder than the inner surface of the jacket 5 and the outer surface of the tube joint 8. The hose material is preferably removed down to the reinforcement 2 in the region of the coupling as shown in the Fig. The insert pieces 3, 4 are then slid on. They may be in the form of surface-hardened steel wire spirals as shown or they may be, e.g. grooved or beaded jackets, of which many forms are described, or form spacers or segments. Preferably, the thickness of the insert piece 3 is, as shown, greater than that of the insert piece 4. The stop 7 is an annular shoulder which engages adjacent an annular projection 9 provided on the tube joint 8, the latter also being provided with grooves 11 in its section 10 pressable into the hose 1.
