Abstract

1,170,877. Can ends. ETABS. J. J. CARNAUD & FORGES DE BASSE-INDRE S.A. 9 May, 1968 [9 May, 1967], No. 22082/68. Heading B8D. A can end with a panel portion 18 inset from the outer end of a wall portion 15 has an annular corrugation 21 of a height not exceeding that of the wall portion and at least one further reinforcing corrugation 26 located in the area 20 between the first corrugation and the wall to afford an increased resistance to deformation of the can end. In the embodiment described, the corrugations 26 have a height of less than one-half that of the wall portion 15 and a radius of curvature less than that of the corrugation 21 and preferably between 3 and 4 times the thickness of the material of the can end.
