Abstract

1,272,818. Lock nut. STANDARD PRESSED STEEL CO. 24 Sept., 1969 [8 Oct., 1968], No. 46917/69. Heading F2H. A lock nut 10 having a body (12) of polygonal cross-section and a frusto-conical crown (14) at one end (Fig. 1, not shown) has indentations 22 in selected flat faces of the body which correspond radially with inward distortions 24 of the bore 16 (called locking regions), each indentation having a curved inner wall 22a with ends indented further than the crest 22d of the curved wall and each of the locking regions of the bore 24 having a radius of curvature greater than the radius of curvature of the relatively undisturbed parts of the bore 25.
