Abstract

1448365 Latches INDUSTRIES PREVENCO Ltd 18 Oct 1973 [20 Sept 1972] 43617/72 Heading E2A The gravity-opened, sliding door 13' of a cashier's strong-box is secured by a sliding latch-bolt 39 whose rearward, releasing movement by handle 58, 60 projecting from the underside of the box, is obstructed by a cam 52, Fig. 2, until this is rotated to the position shown in Fig. 3 by a solenoid 5 and link 55 within the box itself. The solenoid is operated by a remote delay circuit (Figs. 8 and 9, not shown). The nose of the latch bolt has a step such that when the remotely controlled solenoid operates, the bolt is partly retracted by a spring 49, allowing the door to drop down slightly thus indicating that manual opening is now possible.
