Abstract

1379666 Lock devices FICHET-BAUCHE 14 Feb 1972 [28 April 1971] 6819/72 Heading E2A A lock device for the door of a compartment of a strong room comprises a key operated bolt 17, a member 52 which in a first position blocks the opening movement of the bolt 17 and in a second position allows opening movement of the bolt, a set, e.g. two, of switches at least one of which is arranged in the supply circuit of an electromagnet 58, the electromagnet 58 being for moving the member 52 from its first to its second position and an actuator adapted to co-operate with the fillister of the compartment and controlling at least the switch in the supply circuit. The condition of the switches in use of the device represent the open or closed position of the door of the compartment. In the construction shown the actuator comprises a rod 32 a plastics material tip 36 of which, in use, engages the fillister, the rod 32 being provided with switch operating members 41, 45 which co-operate with studs 74, 75 of the switches. After the member 52 has been moved from its first position the switch operating members 41, 45 serve to hold the member 52 in its second position. This is necessary as the two switches are in series with the coil of the electromagnet and retraction of the bolt 17 also allows movement of the switch operating member 41 (spring biassed into engagement with the bolt) to open one of the switches. If the bolt 17 is urged to its locking condition by use of the key when the lock device is in use and the door of the compartment is not closed properly, the tip 36 of the actuator is urged to project out of the door causing both switches to be actuated (Fig. 7, not shown). In the event of the failure of the electromagnet a tumbler lock 80 is provided by means of an appendage 88 of the bolt 82 of which the member 52 may be moved from its first to its second position. In a modification one of the switches is actuated by the electromagnet (Figs. 9, 10, not shown).
