Abstract

1448334 Stamping; extrusion; making pressure containers ALUMINIUM SUISSE SA 28 Feb 1974 [9 March 1973] 9100/74 Headings B3A B3P and B3Q [Also in Division F1] An aerosol or like can is formed during manufacture with a solid rib 4 for securing a cap in position (Fig. 1) or supporting stacked cans (Fig. 2). The can is first extruded from a blank 11 in the die shown in Fig. 5 which produces the can as shown in Fig. 6 in which the rib 4 is axial. Subsequently the curl 3 is formed in the machine shown in Fig. 7, which has a fixed roll forming member 18, and at the same time the rib 4 is radially defluted by a slidable sleeve 21. The rib may be discontinuous and helical or circular. The rib may be used as a screw thread to secure the can to other apparatus.
