Abstract

1447311 Chain-driven conveyers; traversers DRYSYS EQUIPMENT (FRANCE) SA 4 Jan 1974 [25 Jan 1973] 00441/74 Headings B7L and B7J In an installation for transferring loads such as vehicles V from the output end of a conveyer 1 to the input end of a conveyer 2, a transfer platform 17 having wheels 20 and ramps 25, 26 at each end is movable to-and-fro between the conveyer ends at each of which is provided a withdrawable abutment 31, 32 to engage a rear wheel of vehicle V, thus preventing the vehicle from running back during loading or unloading of the platform 17. To effect loading of a vehicle on its arrival at the end of conveyer 1, it is engaged by abutment 31 actuated by a fluid cylinder 33 to which fluid is pumped when a photo-electric detector 35 detects the arrival of the vehicle front wheels. The platform 17 is then driven by pins 16 on an endless chain 3 so that the stationary vehicle is forced up the ramp 25 and retained between a recess 28 and a further ramp 29 on each of two runway members 22. Drive of the chain 3 is then reversed to move the platform 17 to conveyer 2 where the arrival of the vehicle V is detected by a photo-electric detector 36 which causes abutment 32 to engage a rear wheel of the vehicle. Drive of chain 3 is again reversed so that the platform is withdrawn from beneath the vehicle which rides over the ramps 29 and 26 on to belts 2a and 2b of conveyer 2.
