Abstract
1383882 Tow truck conveyer systems S I HANDLING SYSTEMS Inc 8 May 1973 21773/73 Heading B7L [Also in Division F2] A tow truck 10 has one-way bearings in its front wheels 16 to prevent backwards movement of the truck. Thus a truck whose accumulation bumper has been operated will remain in position with its drive pin 22 out of engagement with the conveyer beneath the guide slot 24 until the obstruction operating the bumper has moved. As illustrated in Fig. 3, the one-way bearing is a roller bearing which surrounds a fixed wheel shaft 38 and is a force fit on the inner rim of the wheel 36. Rollers 47 are located by races 42 and 44 joined by a wall 46. When the wheel attempts to move in the reversing direction, cam surfaces 52 wedge the rollers against the shaft to prevent movement. During forward movement, the rollers operate without restriction in spaces 50. In a modification (not shown), the bearing is a force fit on the shaft 38.
