Abstract

1383261 Conveyer systems HANS INGOLD & CO 11 Jan 1973 [14 Jan 1972] 1535/73 Heading B7L A conveyer installation comprises a carriage 1 for supporting a container 11, and movable along a C-section rail 9, the carriage having a pair of wheels 2 located one at each side of the carriage for rotation about a transverse axis thereof, and a pair of wheels 3 located one at each end of the carriage along the centreline thereof for rotation about axes normal to the centreline, and the carriage also being provided with a drive unit 6 for rotating a drive wheel 7 which contacts the rail 9 and propels the carriage therealong. The drive unit 6 is mounted in the carriage by means of a pivot shaft 4 and a blade spring 8 urges the wheel 7 into contact with the rail. The movement of the unit 6 is limited by a stop screw 10. Ledges 14 on the side flanges 13 of the rail 9 retain the wheels 2 on the rail and a guide track 40 may be provided to engage with the wheels 3 if desired. Alternatively rollers or sliding guide elements (not shown) of plastics material may be provided at the four corners of the carriage 1 to engage the rail flanges 13.
