Abstract

1446365 Skew rolling mills MANNESMANNMEER AG 21 Jan 1974 [21 March 1973] 02770/74 Heading B3M A skew rolling mill comprises upper and lower rolls 1<SP>1</SP>, 1 (Fig. 1) each mounted in a housing 3<SP>1</SP> or 3 which has curved guide surfaces for enabling the housing to be rotatably adjusted about a vertical axis. The housing (Fig. 2, in plan) is guided within surfaces 4 provided on the columns 5 of the mill housing, and has an extension 7 acted on by an adjusting spindle 10. The spindles 10<SP>1</SP>, 10 for the two rolls are interconnected by a shaft 16 and driven by a motor 17. A hydraulic balancing cylinder 12 acts in opposition to the spindle 10, and a further hydraulic cylinder 14 contacts the extension to lock the housing in its adjusted position.
