Abstract

1445360 Open end spinning E FEHRER 31 Dec 1973 [17 Jan 1973 5 Oct 1973] 60245/73 Heading D1A To spin a thread, fibres are fed in free flight to and deposited on an air-permeable collecting surface which continuously approaches, moves over and leaves a suction zone, the fibres being twisted, at the zone boundary where the surface leaves the zone, solely by the surface movement and the suction, the twisted fibres being withdrawn tansversely of the surface movement while secured against rotation. Fibres are fed, Fig. 1, to moving surface 1 and are twisted at wall 4 of suction zone 3, the fibres being withdrawn transversely by rolls. The surface may be a perforated suction drum, a conveyor belt, a die or an annular disc. The surface may serve more than one spinning station, Fig. 3.
