Abstract
1445005 Valves I L THATCHER 5 Sept 1974 [27 Sept 1973] 45210/73 Heading F2V [Also in Division D1] In the loop dyeing of yarn in individual cells (see Division D1) the dye liq. is metered into the cells from a reservoir 34 by a dispensing tube 24, the outlet 48 from the reservoir being controlled by a valve comprising a washer 54 attached to the lower end of a rod 40 passing vertically through the dye reservoir 34, the valve being maintained in the closed position by a spring 42 which urges the rod upwards and washer against seat 56, the valve being opened by air pressure against piston 38 attached to the upper end of the rod. The degree of valve opening is controlled by a stop 58 abutting the lower end of rod 40. Air pressure to the valve may be controlled by a timed electric solenoid.
