Abstract
922,433. Tank fittings. S. SMITH & SONS (ENGLAND) Ltd. Jan. 25, 1962 [Jan. 25, 1961], No. 2961/61. Class 69 (1). A device for providing a reserve of liquid material comprises a discharge passage extending into the tank, commmunicating with a delivery conduit at 16, and having two openings within the tank, one close to the bottom and one higher up according to the volume required for the reserve supply, the former opening 30 being permanently open and the latter controlled by a valve 27 electromagnetically operated. The body 12 of the device is held releasably in the tank wall 10 by clamping means 15. It supports a solenoid coil 33 on pillars 19, the inlet spaces between which are protected by a mesh-gauze filter 25. The armature comprises a soft iron pipe 26 fixed to the non-magnetic valve 27, the head of which co-operates with a coned seating 18 on the body 12. When the solenoid carries no current the armature is held in the position shown in Fig. 1 by the spring 42 bearing on a split washer 28. Alternatively, the spring 28 may be assembled on the upper side of a similar washer so that the valve is normally held on its cone seating and is raised by operation of the solenoid.
