[Also in Division Fl] Apparatus for dispensing measured quantities of liquid into a container 2 comprises a filling station B provided with a piston-and-cylinder 3, 4 for drawing a predetermined quantity of liquid from a reservoir to the station and discharging it therefrom under the control of valve means. As shown, the apparatus is adapted to fill several containers 2 at one time, several pistons 4 being connected to a frame 5, 6 which is raised and lowered by pressurized-air fed to a piston-and-cylinder device 7, 8. In operation, air is fed to the cylinder 7 thereby raising the pistons 4 so that they draw in liquid into the cylinder 3 via a pipe 9 and passages 13 which open into a space 14, Fig. 2, controlled by a diaphragm-type inlet valve 10: a similar type outlet valve is maintained closed by airpressure during the suction phase. When the pistons 4 reach the end of their stroke as determined by an adjustable stop 40, solenoid operated valves energized via a timer, are moved to position in which the air is directed to the cylinder 7 so as to move the pistons 4 downwardly, the diaphragm outlet valve being opened while the inlet valve 10 is closed by means of pressurized air acting thereon via a passage 16; a measured quantity of liquid is thereby dispensed into each container.
