144,348. Helliwell, R. B. Aug. 8, 1919. Nozzles for producing whirling sprays. - In a spray jet of the kind in which liquid to be sprayed is delivered under pressure to a cylindrical whirling-chamber through tangentially - arranged ports, the whirling-chamber is formed by recessing the end of a hollow casing F so as to form a peripheral wall f<2> and closing the recess by means of a screwed cap G, which makes a fluid-tight joint with the peripheral wall in which the tangential ports f<3> are cut. The cap has a central nozzle g<2> co-axial with the whirling-chamber and a peripheral recess g<1> communicating with the interior of the casing through the ports f<1> and with the whirling-chamber through the tangential ports f<3>.
