Abstract

1443423 Atmospheric gas burners BRITISH GAS CORP 10 Oct 1973 [11 Oct 1972] 46951/72 Heading F4T An aerated gas burner comprises a box 1 having flame parts 2, a mixing tube 4 and a fuel gas injector 5, the mixing tube 4 having a primary air intake surrounded by a duct leading to air inlet openings 7 adjacent the flame parts 2, whereby in use primary air is drawn into opening (5) 7 sufficiently close to the base of the flames to cause lint entrained in the air to be incinerated before air entry through openings 7 without substantial intiation of the entering air by combustion products. The duct 6 may be formed by a casing formed integrally with or separate to the box 1 and extending along one end and two opposite sides of the box to from two top surfaces adjacent the top of the box 1, a single opening 7 or spaced apart openings 7 being provided in each said top surface. The opening or openings in each top surface are shielded by one or a plurality of upstanding tongues 8 extending inwardly towards the flame ports 2. The inner wall of the casing 6 may provide a support for mixing tube 4 and a detachable end closure for the box 1 allowing any unburnt lint to be readily removed from inside the box.
