A combustion chamber or burner for liquid fuel, which may be used for disposing of combustible liquid waste, comprises an upright cylindrical chamber having an inlet 9 for the fuel at the bottom near its outer edge, and at least one tangentially directed air inlet 4 in the lower part of the chamber wall, so that fuel issuing from the inlet 9 is atomized and burnt. Secondary air inlets 7 in the upper part of the chamber wall complete the combustion. The direction of the air from the primary inlet 4 may be adjustable, and there may be several different fuel inlets 9 allowing different fuels to be burnt. An auxiliary burner in one of the primary air nozzles 4 starts the combustion.
