Abstract

1441502 Aerating liquids ENVIREX INC 30 Aug 1974 [26 Sept 1973] 38028/74 Heading B1C A rotatable surface aerator has an inverted conical or frusto-conical body 22 having a radius and depth to apex of R with three, four or five blades 23. Each blade lies in a plane inclined at 30‹ to the impeller axis at the upper end of the impeller, and has a leading edge 25, and inlet edge 26a, b, and an outlet edge 27; the outlet edge extends from the upper outer edge of the body member and has a length of between R and 1.5R and the inner portion 26a of the inlet edge is 0.3R below the lower end of the body member. The blades may have inner and outer extensions (31, 32 Fig. 6, not shown). In operation the aerator is disposed at a fixed level in a tank having an outlet weir of such a length that at predetermined maximum and minimum flow rates it maintains the liquid level between the top of the aerator and 0.5R below, and at normal flow rates 0.25-0.2R below the top.
