Abstract

1440880 Controlling change-speed gears REGIE NATIONALE DES USINES RENAULT and AUTOMOBILES PEUGEOT 11 March 1974 [14 March 1973] 10827/74 Addition to 1164713 Heading F2D Selector forks 14, 35 for controlling two sliding gears (not shown) on respective shafts are mounted on a sliding member 13 and actuated by an arm 36 coacting with the fork 14 which is slidable on the member 13 and coacts with an abutment 26. The fork 35 is secured to the member 13 by a cross pin 37. When the arm 36 is moved clockwise from the neutral position shown both forks are displaced to the left until a spring-loaded ball 8 enters a recess 18<SP>1</SP> in the member 13, and when the arm 36 is returned to neutral the member 13 returns with the fork 14 due to a ball coupling 22. Anticlockwise movement of the arm 36 from the neutral position displaces only the fork 14 until it is arrested by a spring-loaded ball 7 entering a recess 16, the member 13 being held by the ball 8 in a recess 19<SP>1</SP>, and the ball 22 being free to pass into a recess 34 in the housing 1 to free the member 13 from the fork 14.
