Abstract
143,980. Stirk, G., and Stirk, J. G. March 10, 1919. Systems for continuous-current motors only.-- The field-magnet winding of a generator G supplying current to the armature F<1> F<2> of a motor A is in two sections F<1>, F<2> with their connexions to the exciting mains C, D relatively reversed, whereby the polarity of the generator and the direction of rotation of the motor can be reversed by the operation of the switch S. The field magnet winding of the motor is in two sections F<3>, F<4> connected in agreement; the section F<3> is permanently in circuit while the section F<4> is put in or out of circuit by the operation of the switch S. The system is applicable to drives for rolling mills and planing machines and for ship and vehicle propulsion. According to the Provisional Specification the generator and motor may be series-wound.
