Abstract
1439554 Feeding granular material SPRIBAG AG 22 July 1974 [27 July 1973] 32339/74 Heading B8A Granular material is fed from a funnel 3 to a pneumatic conveying tube 5 along a flexible hose 9 which co-operates with successive pinching elements 23-26 to define a material receiving chamber the volume of which is increased during travel of the pinching elements along the hose 9. As shown, the pinching elements comprise rollers carried by chains 15, 28 trained round wheels 21, 32 and 17, 30, the chains being engaged by sprockets 43, 47 carried by a pivotal bracket 37. With the bracket 37 in the position of Fig. 1, material falls into the hose 9 and is supported by the constriction caused by the roller 23 pressing the hose 9 against a back plate 11. The bracket is then moved to the position of Fig. 2 and the roller 26 moves into contact with the hose to define a closed chamber containing material. The bracket is then moved back to the Fig. 1 position to increase the spacing of the rollers 23, 26 to thus provide an air cushion between the material and the roller 26. A line 13 connects the chamber to the conveyer tube 5. In a modification (Fig. 8) the cross-section of the hose progressively increases.
