Abstract

1438276 Feed roller stop motion JAMES MACKIE & SONS Ltd 29 June 1973 [3 July 1972] 31071/72 Heading D1D In a textile machine having pairs of feed rollers driven by a common drive each pair of feed rollers has a movable detector 21 engaging the yarn and movable to come into the range of a magnet 24 on yarn breakage, this movement serving to operate a mechanism which prevents the feed rollers concerned from feeding yarn while not affecting other feed rollers in the machine. As shown in Fig. 2 a projection 28 on sensor arm 21 disengages a hooked portion 32 of a link 31 from a rotatable wheel 33. This releases a weight 42, which turns a bracket 45 to nip the fibrous material 15 against the pressing feed roller 4 of drafting head and disengage this roller from its companion 3. As Shown in Fig. 4 the projection on the sensor arm operates a pneumatic valve to activate a cylinder 79 and hence nip the material 15 by a blade 81. In each embodiment means are provided to over-ride the sensor during machine start up and comprise a sensor engaging slidabde member 52 in Fig. 2, and a sensor engaging rotatable member 85 in Fig. 4.
