Abstract
1438159 Valves FISSLER GmbH 26 Oct 1973 [28 Oct 1972] 50071/73 Heading F2V A safety device in a steam pressure cooker comprises a safety valve having a valve member 3 housed in a cap 7 and a valve seat 4 fast with the cooker, a visual indicator 6, and a throttling device 13 which moves as a consequence of the rapid outflow of fluid to seal or reduce the size of the orifice provided by the valve seat 4 whenever the cap 7 and valve member 3 are removed from the cooker when it is under pressure. The issuing fluid may be caused to impinge on itself by providing slanted bores 18. The safety valve may be spring-loaded (as shown) or weight-loaded (Fig. 4, not shown). The throttling device (24) may be made resilient so that in the advent of excessive pressure it is blown out towards the exterior.
