Stationary batch mixers with rotary stirrers.- A churn comprises a casing 1 fitted with a spindle 2 carrying blades 9, 10 each of which is formed of two pieces 11, 12 of wood with the extremities 16, 17 shaped to form a channel. The spindle rests at its ends on blocks 3, 5 and is held in position by a latch 6 having a hook 7 to engage a groove 8 in the spindle. On raising the latch, the spindle can be withdrawn. The pieces 11, 12 of the blades are connected by boards or bridges 18, 19 screwed together. The blades have slots or openings and are arranged at right-angles on the spindle. The casing is preferably of cylindrical form, with its length about six-sevenths of its diameter. A large square opening 20 at the top of the casing 'is provided with a frame 21 to support a mirror 22 which is fitted with a rubber edging 23 and with a button-like device 24 to enable it to be easily removed.
