Abstract

137,026. Shearer, J. A., Niehuus, R. H., and Mellor, S. C. Oct. 7, 1919. Batch-mixers with complex motions. - Relates to a mixing-machine particularly intended for churning cream into butter or for mixing paint. The receptacle J is clamped on a table H having at its centre a spindle K revoluble in a bearing D formed near the edge of a horizontal disk C. The disk C is secured to the upper end of a shaft A which can be rotated by a handle T. An arm L secured to the table H is connected by a link M with a stationary post P. Thus when the handle T is turned, the receptacle J is caused to rotate rapidly about the shaft A, and is also caused to oscillate on its spindle K. In a modification, the arm L is connected by springs to two stationary posts, and in a further modification the arm slides in a tubular socket pivoted on the upper end of the post P.
