Abstract

1436493 Valve DES ANCIENS ETABS PAUL WURTH SA 10 July 1974 [30 April 1973] 30605/74 Heading F2V [Also in Division F4] A shut down vent valve for blast furnace top gases comprises a housing 2 enclosing a valve seat 8 and a pivotally mounted flap valve 7 carried by an arm 9 pivoted at 10 so that it can move clear of the passage through the housing. A sleeve 17, carried by an arm 18 sliding in a frame 20 secured to the outside of the valve housing, can be moved downwardly when the valve 7 is open to shield the valve flap 7 and seating 8 from the gas. The sleeve 17 may be coupled to the valve actuating mechanism, and cooling gases may be delivered to the housing to prevent the entry of gas when the sleeve is lowered. A nozzle 29 may be supplied with steam to induce gas flow through the sleeve.
