Abstract
1436250 Mining O B KILROY 26 Sept 1973 [29 Sept 1972] 45080/73 Heading E1F [Also in Division F1] A method of mining involves a-down flowing a column of water from a surface reservoir 14 through a turbine 17 to an underground reservoir 16 from which water is taken, preferably to a mixing tank 19, to be combined, at a level at which the mineral is mined, with the mineral as it is mined to form a slurry that is pumped upwards to the surface at 20 by a pump 23 driven by the turbine 17 and an auxiliary motor 6 coupled to the pump by connections not shown to make up the energy required and b-maintaining the water in the hydraulic circuit constant by returning as appropriate to the operation of the method waiter from the pumped up slurry and from underground to the surface reservoir. The mineral may be mined by high pressure hydraulic jets created by pump 7 connected between reservoir 16 and monitors 29 as shown or by a mechanical mining machine.
