Abstract

1435416 Threading up E I DU PONT DE NEMOURS & CO 19 March 1974 [20 March 1973] 12164/74 Headings D1D and D1W A method of restringing an unstrung threadline 32 in a high-speed apparatus processing multiple threadlines comprises diverting a running threadline 33 through an interlacing jet splicer 40 retrieving the unstrung threadline with a yarn handling means 30 and passing the unstrung threadline 32 through the same splicer 40 then interlacing the threadlines together, the unstrung threadline afterwards being cut between the interlacing jet and the yarn handling means to allow the unstrung threadline 32 to be drawn through the apparatus by the running threadline 33. The threadline 32 is cut by means of a pneumatic cutter 44 under the control of sequence controller 41, Fig. 3. Alternatively after the splice is made the unstrung threadline is carried against an abrasive wheel 50, Fig. 4. A vacuum string up gun 30 comprises the yarn handling means and maintains tension in the unstrung threadline. Conveniently a running threadline is chosen which goes to a bobbin on the same winding chuck as that to which the unstrung threadline is to be taken.
