Toothed gearing for connecting a turbine-driven or other driving-shaft 3 moving at a relatively high speed to a driven shaft 7 comprises two pinions or two groups of pinions 6 mounted in a casing 2 which is supported on a pivot 11 at the centre of a wheel 4 on the shaft 7 so as to have spherical movement thereabout. The casing. 2 is prevented from turning about the shaft 7 by a stay 9, and from turning towards and from the shaft 7 in the plane of the paper by a stay 10. The pinions 6 can turn to a limited extent about an axis X, Fig. 3, radial to the wheel 4, to equalize the tooth pressures. A coupling 20 allows of this motion. The invention is applicable for driving vehicles and ships' propellers. Straight or spiral teeth may be used.
