1435099 Axial-flow pumps J W TOMLINSON 31 July 1972 [24 May 1972] 24373/72 Heading F1C [Also in Divisions B1 and B2] A rotary cutter at the input end of an auger pump comprises one or more cutter blades 1 each having mounted thereon a freely-rotatable sharp edged cutter element 4. Each element 4 may be a cutter disc, and each blade 1 has a sharpened leading edge 3 and is twisted. In use the shaft 2, to which the blades are fixed, is rotated in a pit of slurry and the manure therein is comminuted, the twist imparting an upward flow towards the cutter and thus recirculating the pit contents.
