Abstract

1434792 Locks WILMOT-BREEDEN Ltd 29 March 1974 [17 April 1973] 18332/73 Heading E2A An anti-theft lock (not shown), e.g. for a vehicle steering column (also not shown), is prevented from returning completely to its locking position by a latch-bolt 13 which must be separaetly moved to its releasing position before rotation to the locking position can take place. This blocking mechanism is preferably interposed between the lock and the switch, and it may be actuated remotely or by a pushbutton. In the form shown in Fig. 1, the latch bolt 13 is carried in a rotary carrier 10 mounted by hub 20 on the lock spindle and complete counter-clockwise motion is blocked by its nose 22 abutting shoulder 14 until depressed by seperately operated pin 16. Clockwise motion is accommodated by cut-out 30. In the form shown in Fig. 3, the bolt 13 is held in its blocking or releasing position by catch 36. In the blocking position, shown, a pin 44 engages a shoulder 14, Fig. 4, to prevent comnlete reverse rotation. A cam surface 43 on the inner surface of the housing, engages nose 42 to return the bolt 13 to its blocking position as the lock is turned in a forward direction.
