Abstract

1434351 Heat shrunk packages BRITISH VISQUEEN Ltd 18 June 1973 [3 July 1972] 31059/72 Heading B8C A package comprises an article enclosed or partially enclosed in a wrapper at least part of which comprises an outer heat-shrinkable film and an inner film which does not shrink, when the outer film shrinks, but crinkles instead. A stack 2 of packets of plastics bags may be pushed through a curtain formed of a shrinkable low density, or a low density/high density blend, polyethylene film 7, 7a, and a high density polyethylene film 9, 9a. The films are sealed and severed by jaws 11, 12 and the article passed into a shrink tunnel 5. Alternatively a wrapper around meat on a tray comprises a top panel of a stretchable ethylene/vinylacetate copolymer and a bottom panel of an outer heat-shrinkable film of p.v.c. or cross-linked polyolefins and an inner film of high density, or high density/low density blend, polyethylene, or an ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer. The outer film is shrunk by contact with a heated surface.
