Abstract

1434329 Burners JOHN ZINK CO 5 March 1974 9834/74 Heading F4T The top of a flare stack is provided with at least one horizontal flat strip dividing the gas flow and inducing air along the top of the strip into the rising columns of gas. As shown in Fig. 1 six strips 18 are secured to the wall of the stack and a central plate 19 so that air flows in radial direction 24 along the top of the strips and then along directions 26 to mix with the gas flowing through sector spaces 21. To reduce smoke steam may be introduced into the gas by riser pipes 36, Fig. 12, with radial outlet holes 37 and connected to a steam manifold 34. In addition steam pipes 71 with horizontally directed outlet holes 78 may be secured above the strips 70 and connected either to the riser pipes 36 or a central supply pipe 72.
