Abstract

The system is for use in a building equipped with a central heating system, having a heat exchanger subjected to the chimney heat and through which the fluid used in the central heating system travels. A glass plate (9) shuts off the fireplace, and the fresh air inlet discharges near the base of the hearth (1). This inlet has means for regulating the air flow and thus the heat exchanger temperature, which is always below the boiling point of the liquid. The base of the heat exchanger can be constituted by a grate supporting the fuel, there being passages inside the bars through which the central heating fluid flows. This is connected via a metal backplate with further fluid passages (3) to a tubular heat exchanger (2) in the chimney.
