The apparatus may be drawing apparatus and may comprise a driven feed roll 17 with separator rolls 18, 19, 20, and a driven draw roll 21 with separator rolls 22, 23. A plurality of multifilament yarns 13 may be treated simultaneously. The first and last wraps round each driven roll are at least 150 degrees and the intermediate wraps at least 30 degrees. The filaments contact the separator rolls at the point nearest the axis of the driven roll.
