Abstract
1431503 Rotary furnaces COMBUSTION ENG Inc 13 Dec 1973 ]15 Dec 1972] 57868/73 Heading F4B A rotary furnace 10 for the recovery of scrap metal chips comprises a burner 30 with ports 32 extending along the length of the furnace, a motor 20 driving rollers 18, a charging hopper 14 with rotary valve 15 and screw feed 16 and a discharge rotary valve 28. Lifters (48, Fig. 2) extend along the furnace and burner ports 32 are directed at the metal chips falling from said lifters. The fixed feed 26 incorporates an exhaust duct 42 leading to an after burner 46 supplied with excess air to ignite and burn oil driven off the chips.
