Abstract
1431444 Combined buff and draw gear MINISTERIUM FUR VERKEHRSWESEN 21 May 1973 [9 Aug 1972] 1683/73 Heading B7T In a central buffer coupling assembly provided with shock-absorbing traction and buffing gear, in a rail vehicle, an arm 5 is connected to a forked yoke 4 of traction and buffing gear 2 by a vertical joint bolt 1, which is received in a substantially rectangular section bore 7 through an end (rear in use) of the arm 5 and has a flat surface 12 to bear on a surface (rear in use) of the bore 7, and a thrust-piece 6 retained in the arm 5 by a cross-pin or bolt 8 bears on the bolt surface (front in use) opposed to the flat surface 12 to maintain the bolt 1 against the rear bore surface and thus prevent rotation of the bolt. As shown, the bolt 1 is received in slots 3 in the gear 2, and the thrust-piece 6 has surfaces at 9 abutting against the arm 5 to relieve the pin or bolt 8 of loading. In another form, Figs. 3 and 4 (not shown), the bolt 1 is received in the gear 2 without play, but play is provided by engagement of the pin or bolt 8 in a slot (11) in the thrust-piece 6 which is urged against the bolt 1 by a spring (10) within the arm 5.
