Abstract

1431254 Combine harvester DEERE & CO 23 Oct 1974 [24 Oct 1973] 45881/74 Heading A1F [Also in Division B7] A self propelled combine harvester has a detachable header 66, a forward looking driver's platform 26 above the header and rearwardly looking driver's platform 34. Coupling devices 48, 68 are provided on the forward end of the inclined elevator casing 22 of the harvester and on one side wall 70 of the header 66 respectively. The coupling device 48, has a V- shaped frame 50 and coupling jaw 52 and coupling pin 56, adjustable by means of lever 54 (on the harvester) and the device 68 can be a drawbar 72, eye 74, link 82 and push-in pin 84 (on the header) as seen in Figs. 4, 5. The stow-away positions are indicated by dotted lines. In the embodiment of Fig. 3 the coupling device on the harvester 48 has a ball fitting 88 and that on the header a catch flap 90. The header has an adjustable stand 98 and road wheels 92 which can be raised or removed when in the operating mode. The harvester is designed such that the dhangeover from operating to transport mode can be carried out by the driver alone and, during transportation, the driver uses the rearwardly facing platform and hence the steerable wheels of the harvester then precede the drive wheels.
