Abstract

1430900 Removing particles from smoke BAYER AG 26 July 1974 [1 Aug 1973] 33062/ 74 Heading B1T [Also in Divisions F3 and F4] An arrangement for separating liquid films, droplets &c from a gas in a pipe comprises a frusto conical portion defining a crosssectional restriction in the pipe and an annular stripping slot therein having an annular baffle surface communicating with a collecting trap, said annular surface being adapted to receive the gas flow and to divert it into said trap. As shown applied to a chimney 2 the constriction 4 leads to the baffle surface 6 disposed above the separation chamber 5 having a liquid drain 9 and an outlet 7 by which the gas can rejoin the main stream. The width of the stripping slot so defined is from 0.5%-10%, preferably 1%-2%, of the chimney diameter and the radius of curvature of the baffle surface 6 is from 1-10 times, preferably 3-6 times the width of the slot.
